The Joint Formula — Comfort, Mobility & Connective-Tissue Support

Five ingredients targeting joint comfort, cartilage structure, and connective-tissue integrity — at doses matched to the clinical trials behind them, not label-buffering amounts.

This is a research-grounded starter formula — not a standardized finished product. Doses are evidence-based maintenance recommendations for healthy adults. Individual responses vary. Consult your physician before starting any supplement regimen, especially if you have a medical condition or take prescription medications. The Formula

5 ingredients · 9 capsules/day · Each dose is study-attributed — see citations in line.

Glucosamine (as Glucosamine Sulfate Potassium)

1500 mg

The GAIT trial (Clegg et al. 2006, NEJM, PMID 16495392, n=1583) found glucosamine combined with chondroitin sulfate produced a significantly higher response rate than placebo in the subgroup of patients with moderate-to-severe knee joint pain, though the effect across the full study population did not reach significance; FormulaForge doses at the 1500 mg/day used in the trial. (PMID 16495392)

Chondroitin Sulfate

1200 mg

Dosed at 1200 mg/day, matching the GAIT trial (Clegg et al. 2006, PMID 16495392) protocol that paired chondroitin with glucosamine; chondroitin is a structural glycosaminoglycan component of cartilage. (PMID 16495392)

OptiMSM®MSM (as OptiMSM®)

2000 mg

A 2023 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in adults with mild knee pain (Toguchi et al., PMID 37447322, n=88) found 2000 mg/day of MSM significantly improved knee-specific quality-of-life scores (JKOM) over 12 weeks compared to placebo. (PMID 37447322)

Boswellin®Boswellin® (Boswellia Serrata Extract)

300 mg

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial (Kimmatkar et al. 2003, PMID 12622457, n=30) found Boswellia serrata extract produced a statistically significant decrease in knee pain, increased knee flexion, and increased walking distance versus placebo over 8 weeks. (PMID 12622457)

Verisol®Hydrolyzed Collagen (as Verisol®)

5000 mg

A 24-week randomized, placebo-controlled trial in athletes (Clark et al. 2008, PMID 18416885, n=147) found collagen hydrolysate reduced activity-related joint pain versus placebo, and a separate 12-week randomized trial (Zdzieblik et al. 2017, PMID 28177710, n=139) found 5 g/day of specific collagen peptides significantly reduced activity-related knee-joint discomfort; FormulaForge doses at the 5 g/day used in the Zdzieblik trial. (PMID 18416885)

Why One Formula Beats the Stack

Sourcing these ingredients separately requires 5 bottles and 14 pills per day — vs. 9 capsules in this formula.

Form Quality Gaps

The commodity versions most single-ingredient bottles use — and why they fall short.

FormulaForge FormCommodity DefaultWhat the Research Shows
Glucosamine + Chondroitin at trial-matched doses (1500 mg / 1200 mg)Glucosamine or chondroitin alone, or under-dosed combinationsThe GAIT trial (PMID 16495392) found the combination — not either ingredient alone — produced the clearest response in patients with moderate-to-severe pain, and only at the 1500 mg / 1200 mg doses tested. Many commodity joint formulas include one ingredient without the other, or dose well below trial levels.
Boswellin® standardized extractUnstandardized Boswellia serrata powderThe positive Kimmatkar 2003 trial (PMID 12622457) used a standardized Boswellia serrata extract, not raw powder. Boswellic acid content — the compound class studied for joint comfort — varies enormously in unstandardized extracts.
Collagen peptides at the 5 g clinical doseCollagen at 1-2 g/servingThe Zdzieblik 2017 trial (PMID 28177710) that found a significant reduction in activity-related knee discomfort used 5 g/day of specific collagen peptides over 12 weeks. Many commodity collagen products dose at 1-2 g/serving — well below the studied amount.

Pricing context

Five separate joint-support supplements from quality brands typically cost $90-$130/month, especially at trial-matched doses. This formula's live quote typically comes in at or below that range — with a standardized Boswellia extract and a full 5 g collagen dose that most budget joint formulas omit or under-dose.

Exact pricing is quoted live in the builder based on your personalized formula. Example figures are illustrative only and reflect in-one example market research — not a guaranteed price or saving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this formula a treatment for arthritis or osteoarthritis?

No. This is a research-grounded starter formula for healthy adults who want joint comfort and connective-tissue support, not a treatment for arthritis, osteoarthritis, or any diagnosed joint disease. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA, and this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. If you have persistent joint pain or a diagnosed joint condition, consult your physician.

Why does the glucosamine + chondroitin dose matter so much?

The largest randomized trial on these ingredients (the GAIT trial, PMID 16495392, n=1583) tested them at 1500 mg glucosamine and 1200 mg chondroitin per day. It found the combination benefited patients with moderate-to-severe pain most clearly at that exact dose — under-dosed commodity products have not been shown to produce the same result.

Is Boswellin the same as curcumin or turmeric?

No. Boswellin® is a standardized Boswellia serrata (Indian frankincense) extract — a different botanical from curcumin (turmeric). Both have been studied for joint comfort through different mechanisms. A randomized, placebo-controlled trial of a standardized Boswellia serrata extract (Kimmatkar et al. 2003, PMID 12622457) found a significant decrease in knee pain versus placebo; this formula uses the standardized Boswellin® form, which controls for the boswellic-acid content that varies widely in unstandardized extracts.

Can I take this formula if I have a shellfish allergy?

Glucosamine is often derived from shellfish exoskeletons. If you have a shellfish allergy, discuss shellfish-free glucosamine sourcing with your physician before starting this formula — you can also remove or swap this ingredient in the builder.
