- A 2006 randomized, placebo-controlled trial in resistance-trained men found that 12 g/day of AAKG over 8 weeks of periodized training significantly increased plasma arginine and was associated with greater gains in one-rep-max bench press and peak power compared to placebo, while showing no significant effect on body composition or aerobic capacity.
